Monsoon marked its way to Kolkata on time. It has been receiving very good showers since then. Particularly during the past week the city of joy witnessed some very good spells.
Though on and off good rains are continuing over the city of joy and adjoining districts, Gangetic West Bengal continues to be at a rain deficit of 12%. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Monday Kolkata recorded very less rain of 3 mm only.

We expect scattered light to moderate rains to continue over the city for the next three to four days. Today there may be one or two light spells over the city. But the intensity of rain is likely to increase by June 28 or 29.

Monthly average rainfall for June is 300.6 mm, whereas till date it has only received around 190 mm of rain only. So we expect light to moderate rains for the rest of the month. But those rains may not be enough to surpass the monthly average.
Temperatures are sultry, warm and humid across Kolkata and adjoining areas, much relief is not expected for the next few days. As the intensity of the Monsoon rains will increase the weather conditions will become pleasant.
