Since last few days, Kolkata has been receiving normal Southwest Monsoon rains. Thus, several cities such as Burdwan, Digha, Malda, Bankura and Asansol have been witnessing scattered light rains. Also, the weather conditions over Kolkata have remained comfortable.

In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Burdwan 21 mm, Kolkata 18 mm, Sriniketan 12.3 mm, Digha 8 mm, Krishnanagar 7.2 mm, Bankura 7 mm, Malda 5.2 mm, Asansol 4.1 mm and Diamond Harbour 2.2 mm.

The reason for these light rains can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which is seen likely to develop over Northwest Bay of Bengal after 24 hours. Also, the axis of Monsoon trough is crossing over Odisha and is likely to move towards East Central Bay of Bengal.
