In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am the city received very light rain. And these light rains are expected to continue over Kolkata and nearby districts of Gangetic West Bengal. These light rains can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which is at present over North Bay of Bengal and a trough is extending through Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.
As this trough is in South of Kolkata presently hence we do not expect very heavy rain over the city for the next two to three days. But around July 17 or 18 we expect the trough to shift again over Gangetic West Bengal leading to increase in rain activities. During that time we expect moderate to heavy spells to lash the city.

Until that time, on and off scattered rains will continue and we do not expect any dry spell for at least next eight to ten days.Temperature is in mid-30° C at present and warm and humid weather is prevailing across the city. Warm weather conditions and humidity will reduce around 17 and 18 as rain intensity would increase.
