Kolkata had a good affair with rains during the start of the June. After that the weather has gone almost gone dry in City of Joy. Normally the onset of Monsoon reaches Kolkata by June 10 but this time it has not eve reached Northeastern states of India.
But now the situation of has become favorable for Monsoon to reach Northeastern states of India and parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal in next 28-48 hours.
Even though the chances of pre-Monsoon like rain and thundershowers over Kolkata are there but Monsoon like heavy rains are still few days away.
Few afternoon showers are possible between June 13 and June 15 over Kolkata but intensity of these rain are expected to pick up pace around June 18. Around that time we can say that fairly widespread moderate will slash the city.
Whether the onset of Monsoon will be declared around June 17-18 is yet to be seen. But it is definite that Kolkata missed its usual Monsoon onset date.
Till June 18 the temperatures will remain high end and weather will remain humid and uncomfortable. But relief is expected only by June 18.
