Kolkata receives a fair amount of rain during the month of February with its average monthly rainfall being 20.9 mm. However, this season, the month has remained dry for the city as Kolkata failed to observe any spell of rains.

In the wake of dry weather, both the temperatures also started witnessing a rising trend. As of now, both the maximums and minimums are settling marginally above the normal levels.

In the last 24 hours, as against its monthly mean of 29.2°C,Kolkatarecorded 31.8°C which was 2 degrees above the normal. Moreover, the minimum temperature of Kolkata was also a degree beyond the normal and settled at 19.7°C against its monthly mean of 17.8°C.

As Kolkata lies near the Bay of Bengal, the weather of the city generally remains humid which is what the situation is at present as well.

Skymet Weather does not foresee any significant weather system to prevail over the region. Thus, the weather of Kolkata would continue to remain dry and warm. Moreover, not many changes in the temperature profile are anticipated. Both the minimum and maximum temperatures of the city are expected to continue to remain above normal for at least a week.

However, there would be a marginal rise in the temperature in the next 2-3 days, but weather is expected to remain warm and humid. The maximum temperatures are likely to remain in mid-30’s. The nights will also remain warm with the temperatures settling in high teens.
