Kolkata has been blessed by good rains that have been occurring in the city from last many days. From light to moderate, Kolkata has never mainly remained rain-free. In the wake of these rains, temperatures across most districts have curtailed down making the state capital pleasant and comfortable.
Some moderate spells have occurred in Kolkata in the last 24 hours as well. Within the span of 08:30 am on Monday, Kolkata recorded a good 30 mm of rains. The reason for these rains as per Skymet Weather can be attributed to the axis of Monsoon trough which was passing through Gangetic West Bengal. In the wake of this, good rains occurred over Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata.

As of now, the axis of Monsoon trough is running south of Kolkata via Balasore. Therefore, scattered light rains are expected to continue over the city of joy, Kolkata and the adjoining districts of Gangetic West Bengal. Mainly light showers with one or two heavy spells are possible to occur in Kolkata during late afternoon or evening hours.

But we heavy to very heavy rains are not anticipated for Kolkata for the next few days. The weather will remain warm and humid as the rains will be patchy in nature, no major relief in the temperature profile is likely.
As against the monthly target of 344.5 mm of rains, Kolkata till date has recorded 119.4 mm of rains.
