The main rainy season for Kolkata is the Southwest Monsoon season. During this season the city records almost 75% of its annual rains.
However, since October, rains have reduced significantly over the capital city of West Bengal, as October and November are the two months wherein the city records least amount of rain.
Now also due to prevalence of northwesterly winds which are dry and cool in nature, dry weather is continuing over Kolkata and its adjoining region. with less humidity levels, the days are comfortable, and nights are pleasant.
Moreover, during the month of November, Kolkata sees a large variation of winds in terms of both direction and speed. More often, dry northwesterly winds blow over the city and at times moist easterly winds.
Further, similar weather conditions are expected to continue over Kolkata for the next 36 to 48 hours. Thereafter, winds will be changing their direction from northwesterly to easterly.
These easterly winds will be warmer in nature. Though the weather will remain dry, but temperatures would be increasing significantly. Sky conditions will become partly cloudy on from November 26 evening.
Talking about the city’s temperatures, at present the maximum temperatures over Kolkata are settling between 29 to 31 degrees and night temperatures between 16 to 18 degrees. These temperatures will increase after 36 hours as winds will be changing.
