Kolkata to continue observing hot weather for some more time

The state of West Bengal is one. Temp in excess of 40 degrees in most places over Gangetic West Bengal. In fact, most places are about 4 to 6 degrees above normal. For instance, Sri Niketan 41.9 degrees, Murshidabad 41.7 degrees, Malda 40.8 degrees, Asansol 41.9 degrees, Bankura saw 42.8 degrees, and Burdwan 41 degrees.

The city of Kolkata for the last three days has been recording maximums above 38 degrees, starting from 38.4 degrees on May 7, 38.5 degrees on May 8, and 38.9 degrees on May 9.

There has been a continuous rise in temperatures and may very soon reach 39 degrees. Temperatures in Kolkata in the last five years have not exceeded 39 degrees in the month of May. This time also, the temperatures may hang around 39 degrees or so.

As far as the effect of Cyclone Mocha on West Bengal is concerned, cloudy sky conditions may be observed and gusty winds may blow but nothing significant is likely as the system will be at a safe distance from the Indian Coastline. Only isolated rains may be seen over and around the region.
