Kolkata has been battling warm and humid weather for last many days, with only few pockets recording light Monsoon rains. During the last 24 hours, the city has seen only 1.8 mm of rain. Similar weather conditions can be seen over the rest of Gangetic West Bengal.

However, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal has been witnessing heavy rains during the same time frame. According to Skymet Weather, a trough can be seen running from Jharkhand to Nagaland across central parts of West Bengal. Besides this, a Western Disturbance is also moving in higher latitude over Tibet. With these systems, moist winds have been blowing over the state.

As a result, we can expect moderate to heavy Monsoon rains for Sub-Himalayan West Bengal for the next two to three days. Places such as Jalpiaguri, Darjeeling, Cooch Behar, Siliguri, and North Dinajpur.

Meanwhile, Gangetic West Bengal would settle with scattered rains only. Kolkata, Bankura, Purulia, and North 24 Parganas would see light rains only. As a result, day would continue to be warm, with maximum temperatures settling around normal average around 32 degree Celsius. But high humidity levels would lead to extremely unconformable weather conditions.

However, some relief is expected after 48 to 72 hours, when rains over Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata would witness an increase.
