This will remain over and around Gangetic West Bengal for the subsequent 72hours. Feeble low pressure area may also form on 16-17August. This low pressure will move over parts of Jharkhand, Bihar, North Chhattisgarh, East Uttar Pradesh and East Madhya Pradesh between 18th and 21st August. The weather system and its influences will result moderate and light showers for Kolkata and suburbs during this period.

Between 01st and 11th August, Alipore oservatory has recorded 194.8mm and Dumdum measured 158mm of rainfall. The capital city has a monthly average of 372.1mm for August. This wet spell may add about 100mm rainfall over a period of one week and take the cumulative figure close to the normal.
