The city of Kolkata has been seeing rains. Alipore recorded 9 mm of rains in the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday.
Moreover, we can expect moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers today. In fact, there is a chance of hailstorm also in some areas, particularly in the suburbs of the city.
The reason for these rains is attributed to a trough, which is extending from West Bengal to Odisha. Anti Cyclone from Bay of Bengal is pumping moisture. Thus, rainfall will be seen along with thunderstorm and some hailstorm activity.
Tomorrow, one can see lesser rains as compared to but some rains are anticipated. Weather will get better by April 2 and rains may take a backseat by then.
March is not the rainiest month and the monthly mean is at 35 mm and so far the city has recorded 30 mm, which means that March will remain short of normal rainfall activity.
