Kolkata may get another whip of rainfall today

From the looks of it, Kolkata is likely to get another whip of rainfall today as the weather conditions are ideal for such activity. Yesterday also, Kolkata received light rainfall activity which has brought the pleasant weather conditions post sunset over the city.

In the month of April, Kolkata usually receives about 60 mm of pre-Monsoon rainfall. But with very few rainy days in this month, the chances of rainfall reaching the average figure are very tough. Till date, Kolkata has received around 5 mm of rainfall.

Yesterday’s rainfall activity of 4.4 mm has already helped the temperatures over the City of Joy to drop down a bit. And with more rainfall expected today, temperatures are likely to be below normal for the time being but this doesn’t mean an invitation of pleasant weather.  The city will continue with hot and sultry day weather.

This rainfall over Kolkata can be attributed to the trough which is travelling from North Bihar to North Bay of Bengal. Along with Kolkata, many areas of West Bengal like Midnapore, Purnea among many areas may get light rainfall thanks to this trough.

Many areas of North Bihar may get light rainfall at many places.
