A trough is presently extending from West Uttar Pradesh up to Arunachal Pradesh across Jharkhand and West Bengal. In the past 24 hours, scattered to moderate rainfall was observed over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand, North Bengal with isolated activity over South Odisha, parts of East Bihar. Places like Murshidabad, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, and Jalpaiguri witnessed rains.
On the contrary, hot weather conditions made life tough for people in Jharkhand and West Odisha. While warm and humid weather prevailed over the rest of East India wherein the temperatures crossed the 40°C mark.
According to meteorologists at Skymet, rainfall activity would continue in North Bengal and adjoining Northeast India. Moderate intensity rains would be observed over some places like Kolkata, 24 North Parganas, 24 South Parganas, Malda and Murshidabad. Southern parts of Odisha coast including Koraput and Malkangiri would also observe moderate intensity rain.
Whereas, isolated activities will be seen over rest parts of East Bihar, South Jharkhand, South Bengal and coastal parts of Odisha.
Temperatures are however expected to increase over the western parts of Jharkhand and West Odisha. Whereas, warm and humid conditions would prevail over most parts of Bihar and adjoining Jharkhand. Isolated thunderstorm activity cannot be ruled out in the region.
Kishanganj, Araria, Supaul, Bhagalpur, and Purnia in Bihar would observe light to moderate rain. While Jamshedpur, Ranchi, and Bokaro in Jharkhand would see light rain and thundershowers in the next 48 hours.
