The entire West Bengal has been witnessing on and off Monsoon showers since many days. The month of September has started on a rainy note of Kolkata. The entire state witnessed active Monsoon conditions in the past day.

As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation lies over Bihar and an upper air trough is extending from this system towards west central Bay of Bengal across Gangetic West Bengal and northern parts of the Bay of Bengal.
Due to this persistent weather system, varied intensity rains were recorded across West Bengal. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Friday, Alipur Observatory in Kolkata recorded heavy rain of 88 mm, and Dumdum Observatory 79 mm. In the same span of time, Diamond Harbour witnessed 40.4 mm of mm of heavy rain, Digha 42.9 mm, Jalpaiguri 43.8 mm and Midnapore 36.4 mm of rain. Light intensity rains were also recorded in Asansol, Bankura, Burdwan, and Coochbehar.

At present also the cyclonic circulation is persisting over Bihar and the trough is extending from this system towards the Bay of Bengal. The axis of Monsoon trough is also passing through Malda and is moving Northeast Bay Of Bengal.
To these combined weather systems, light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spells are likely over the city of joy and adjoining areas during the next three to four days. Weather conditions will remain pleasant, the sky will remain cloudy to over cast.
