The city of joy Kolkata has been receiving moderate to heavy intensity showers since past few days. The other districts of Gangetic West Bengal have also received good Monsoon rains. At present, Gangetic West Bengal is rain surplus by 9 percent meanwhile Sub Himalayan West Bengal is rain surplus by 4 percent.
In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday, Alipur Obserbatory in Kolkata received heavy intensity rain of 62 mm and Diamond Harbour 69 mm of rain. Krishnagar also received moderate intensity rain of 30.2 mm. Meanwhile, Coochbehar witnessed light rain of 2.2 mm and Digha 1.3 mm of rain. Scattered rains also occured over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and the central parts recorded isolated light rains.

These rains can be attributed to the eastend of the axis of Monsoon trough which is running across Digha district. As per Skymet Weather, it is anticipated that moderate intensity showers will continue over Kolkata and the adjoining districts of the state. These rains will continue for the next few days which will increase the rain surplus even more.

Meanwhile, the northern and central parts will continue receiving light intensity rains. The minimum and maximum temperatures are normal at present due to continuous rains and the weather has also become pleasant across the state including Kolkata.
