In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Sunday, Burdwan recorded heavy rain of 43 mm. Meanwhile, in the same span of time, Coochbehar witnessed light rain of 10.6 mm, Asansol 5.5 mm, Malda 4.5 mm and Shanti Niketan 4 mm of rain.
As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and a trough is extending up to Tamil Nadu from across Gangetic West Bengal. Due to these weather systems, we expect light to moderate rains likely over Sub Himalayan West Bengal. Places such as Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri, and Siliguri will witness rains during the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, remaining parts of West Bengal will witness subdued rainfall activities. Kolkata is likely to receive light rains now.
It is anticipated by Skymet Weather that around September 6, rain intensity will increase again over Gangetic West Bengal as well as remaining parts of the state. Places such as Burdwan, Midnapore, and Kolkata will record good showers then.
These rains will be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is forming over Coastal Odisha. Due to this weather system, humid winds from the Bay of Bengal will start feeding moisture over the state which will lead to cloud formation and eventually giving rains.
