West Bengal has been witnessing on and off Monsoon rains from the last few days. In the past day also, many regions of the state observed rainfall activities. Cooch Behar recorded heavy rain to the tune of 52.5 mm in the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Sunday, Asansol 15.6 mm, Midnapore 13.8 mm and Jalpaiguri 12.5 mm of rains. However, Kolkata did not observe any rainfall or thundershower activity.

As per Skymet Weather, a north-south trough is extending from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal up to Interior Odisha across Gangetic West Bengal. Also, a cyclonic circulation has been persisting over East Bangladesh and adjoining areas. Due to the close proximity of these combined weather systems with the state, it is anticipated that light to moderate rains are likely over the entire state.
These Monsoon rains are likely to continue for the next two days. Sub Himalayan West Bengal will record more rains as compared to Gangetic West Bengal. Places such as Siliguri and Cooch Behar in Sub Himalayan West Bengal will witness good showers.

Meanwhile, Midnapore, Contai, Diamond Harbour and Kolkata which come under Gangetic West Bengal will also record light Monsoon rains. It is expected that the rainfall will reduce after two days.
As on September 10, Sub Himalayan West Bengal is rain surplus by 3 percent and Gangetic West Bengal by 1 percent. Weather is likely to remain warm and humid over the region. Day temperatures over Sub Himalayan West Bengal will be settling in the range of 30°C to 33°C and 34°C to 36°C across Gangetic West Bengal .
