Since last many days, intermittent rains have been occurring over Kolkata. In the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Kolkata recorded 3.4 mm of rain. As on July 12, Kolkata is rain surplus by 29%. Meanwhile, light rains cannot be ruled out over Kolkata during the next 24 to 48 hours.
The City of Joy' was already receiving good rains from the last couple of days. Until July 11, it has recorded almost more than double of its normal Monsoon rains. Meanwhile, Kolkata will continue to receive good rains during next few days but the intensity of rainfall activities are likely to reduce further.

According to Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over Northwest Bay of Bengal. A trough is also seen extending from North Rajasthan up to Northwest Bay of Bengal which is likely to move across Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal. Due to these weather systems, rains are expected to continue in many parts of West Bengal and few moderate spells may also occur over Coastal areas including Kolkata.

In Gangetic West Bengal, Kolkata is likely to experience light rainfall activities in the next couple of days along with coastal areas, while in the interior districts, one or two spells of light rain might occur over the region during the next 24 to 48 hours.
