Rain in KolkataKolkata enjoyed a rainy August with heavy Monsoon showers lashing the city of joy on several occasions. So much so that the capital city of West Bengal received over 600 mm of rainfall in August which is almost double the monthly mean.

Now, a fresh spell of good Monsoon rains is all set to lash Kolkata again. According to Skymet Weather, the city has already started witnessing traces of rains, which are likely to pick up pace during the next 24 hours. All thanks to the trough which is running from Bihar up to Gangetic West Bengal.

With this, we can expect mainly light rain with few spells of moderate showers on Saturday.

Thereafter, a fresh cyclonic circulation is likely to develop in North Bay of Bengal by September 4. This weather system will further enhance the rains over the capital city. In wake of this, intensity of rain will increase significantly and we can expect moderate to heavy showers over the city.

This rainy spell is likely to last for at least 2-3 days. The normal average rainfall for Kolkata during the month of September stands at 312.6 mm.

Also due to these fresh rains, both the maximum and minimum temperatures will register a dip. However, increased levels of humidity will cause discomfort.
