The city of Kolkata is all set to see a round of heavy rains this entire week. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Alipore observatory recorded 14 mm of rains and Dum Dum saw 10 mm rainfall.
Moreover, rains are expected to see an increase over Kolkata and we can expect these showers to become heavy by tomorrow. Rains will continue until October 6, with the peak of very intense rains being on October 4.
After October 6, rain is expected to slow down and will ease out by October 7. These rains are attributed to the Low Pressure Area, which is over Jharkhand and adjoining parts of Chhattisgarh and Bihar. The system will move slowly and shift northeastward and literally meander over the eastern states of West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand. The remnant of the low pressure area will move across Bangladesh and ultimately get filled up over Assam and Sub Himalayan West Bengal by end of this week. Until then, the city of Kolkata will see intense showers.
