During the last 24 hours, several parts of Maharashtra have been witnessing active Monsoon conditions. Therefore, regions such as Konkan & Goa, a few parts of Madhya Maharashtra have been receiving scattered light to moderate Monsoon showers during the last 24 hours. Whereas Marathwada and Vidarbha regions have been witnessing light rains at one or two places. Thus, cities such as Mumbai, Satara, Kolhapur, Ratnagiri, Harnai, Dahanu, Mahabaleshwar recorded a good amount of rainfall.

In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Osmanabad 54 mm, Mahabaleshwar 31.5 mm, Harnai 28 mm, Bhira and Vengurla 20 mm, Mumbai 15.5 mm, Ratnagiri 15.3 mm, Kolhapur 11.2 mm, Thane 8.4 mm, Aurangabad 7 mm, Alibag, Chandrapur and Dahanu 3 mm and Satara 2.5 mm.

These weather conditions can be attributed to an active offshore trough which is seen running along the West Coast. Due to this weather system, the intensity of rains is likely to increase further over Konkan & Goa, Vidarbha and Marathwada regions as well. Thus, these regions will see light to moderate rains with isolated heavy spells of rains during the next 24 to 48 hours.

However, no significant weather changes are anticipated over Madhya Maharashtra region. Hence, this region will continue to settle with light Monsoon showers. Furthermore, by August 27 and 28, a few spells of heavy Monsoon showers are likely to lash several parts of Konkan & Goa region including Mumbai and adjoining areas.
