Tamil Nadu Rains 1

The state of Tamil Nadu has been experiencing mainly dry weather conditions since the last many days. however, during the last 24 hours, few south coastal parts of Tamil Nadu witness isolated light rainfall activity accompanied with one or two moderate showers.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Kodaikanal recorded 17.8 mm of rain, followed by Coonoor 7.6 mm, Valparai 2 mm and Salem 0.5 mm. Meanwhile, the capital city, Chennai also observed dry weather.

At present, an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over Comorin region. Another cyclonic circulation is also seen over northern interior parts of Karnataka. Along with these two systems, an upper air trough is running from Comorin region to North Interior Karnataka across interior parts of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Now as this weather system would be moving westwards and weakening, rains will decrease over Tamil Nadu. But still, during the next 12 hours, isolated places such as Kodaikanal, Ooty, Kanyakumari and Palayamkottai may receive rain and thundershowers.

However, during the next 24 hours, in Chennai, the sky condition will be generally cloudy in the forenoon and partly cloudy thereafter. Maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 34˚C and 27˚C, respectively.
