Kochi records heavy rain

Kerala observed poor rains this Monsoon season due to which the seasonal deficiency stood at 26%. However, moderate to good rains are being witnessed in the month of October in the state. According to the data available with Skymet, rainfall in Kerala is surplus by 58% so far.

And Kochi is one city that observes very good rain throughout the monsoon season. October and November are also the months when the city records good amounts of rain from the Northeast Monsoon.

According to the rainfall data available with Skymet, Kochi in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday has received 86 mm of rain. This has taken the total amount of rain received so far in the month to 265 mm against the average of 320 mm. And with half the month still left the city could easily surpass the monthly figure. Kochi on an average observes 14 rainy days (daily rainfall should be 2.5 mm or above) which clearly indicates that rainfall in the city during October is also good.

In the last ten years the highest 24 hours rainfall recorded in the city is 208 mm, observed on October 23, 2005.

Furthermore, the weather conditions in the city are pleasant. The day temperatures are recording close to the monthly average of 30.6 degrees Celsius, while the minimums are pleasing and settling close to 24 degrees.
