Kochi, Kannur, Kottayam in Kerala to get good Monsoon rains

Kerala is one of the states which is rain deficit. However, good rains were observed during the month of June thereafter Monsoon remained subdued over the state. But after a long gap of time, good rains were observed over many parts of the state yesterday.

In the past 24 hours from 8.30 am on Monday, Kochi witnessed 62.6 mm of heavy rain, Kottayam 9.2 mm, Kannur and Alappuzha also recorded 1 mm of light rain. As per Skymet Weather, it is anticipated that moderate rains are likely to continue over the state for the next four to five days.

Few heavy spells of rain are also possible over the state. With these rains, Monsoon is going to revive over Kerala and rain deficit is expected to come down to some extent during the next week.

These rains can be attributed to a trough which was extending from South Gujarat to North Kerala has now weakened but southern parts of the trough is now expected to revive and rains will increase over Kerala. The weather has also become pleasant across the state which is likely to prevail for some time now. These rains have given relief to the people who were eagerly waiting for showers.
