Telangana has been experiencing two contradicting weather systems during this Monsoon Season. The northern districts of the state are rain surplus. Meanwhile, the southern districts of the state, including Hyderabad are rain deficient.
As per Skymet Weather, the reason for surplus rains over North Telangana can be attributed to successive weather systems developing over West Central Bay of Bengal, off Odisha and Andhra Pradesh coast.
At present, the northern hemisphere is much more warmed up which is leading to the formation of weather systems in the form of cyclonic circulations and low-pressure areas in the West Central Bay of Bengal.

These weather systems traveled in a westerly direction, across coastal Andhra Pradesh, North Telangana, South Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha towards Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.
While traveling towards west, they mostly affect the northern parts of the state, including the districts such as Adilabad, Nizamabad, Bhupalpally, Kothagudem, Mahabubnagar, Khammam, received excess rainfall and that is why they are rain surplus.

On the other hand, these weather systems, failed to affect the southern region of Telangana including Hyderabad, Sangareddy, Medak, and Siddipet which is why they are still rain deficient.
Skymet Weather states that the situation was completely a reciprocate in the year 2017. During that time, the northern districts of the state was rainfall deficient, meanwhile, the southern half of Telangana enjoyed a rain surplus status. This was because most of the weather systems developed over the south-central Bay of Bengal and traveled westwards, affecting South Telangana.
However, the ray of hope is still alive for Monsoon to revive over South Telangana in the month of August which would be due to the changes in the warming pattern of northern hemisphere. Hence, we expect good rains to occur over parts of South Telangana in the upcoming two Monsoon months.
As for now, no significant weather system is likely over the state for at least a week. Hence, we expect rains to reduce over the state, however, isolated spells would continue with the intensity being more over North Telangana only.
