1.Annual Solar eclipse to appear today:
The annual solar eclipse, where the Sun appears as a ring around the Moon will appear today which will be seen over many parts of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. It will be visible from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Northern Mariana Island and Guama and will also be visible from places such as Mangalore, Mysuru, Tiruchi, Thiruvananthapuram, Vellore, Puducherry, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, and Mumbai.
2. When can you see the solar eclipse today:
It is seen when the Moon comes between the Sun and the Earth and is considered as a natural phenomenon. This partial solar eclipse would begin at 08:04 a.m. and the full eclipse would be visible at 09:24 a.m and at 09:26 a.m., this full eclipse would end and by around 11:05 a.m., the Moon would leave the edges of the Sun, ending the partial eclipse. The duration of this solar eclipse would be 3.12 minutes. Kerala would be the first place in India where it will be very visible. The reason behind this would be as the eclipse would start in Qatar and due to its geological positioning, Cheruvathur (Kerala) is considered to be the first place to see this annual solar eclipse.
3. Safety measures while seeing an eclipse:
Do not look at the Sun during a solar eclipse with naked eyes as it is not advisable and is considered to be harmful to the eyes. According to NASA, only eclipse glasses that have a certification with "ISO 12312-2 international standard" can be used and are safe to watch a solar eclipse. Moreover, a pinhole projector that allows a user to project the image of the Sun on paper can also be used. With all of these safety measures, it is safe to eat, drink and carry out daily activities during an eclipse.
