Gujarat weather

Gujarat is the least weather affected pocket in terms of rain and thundershower activities during the winter season. The weather activities pick up pace here only during Monsoon, while it's mild during Pre-Monsoon. However, ‘heat’ is a prominent factor during both pre and post Monsoon period, with heatwave condition being a regular affair.

Mid February onward, winter is at its fag end in the state of Gujarat and by the end of the month hot weather begins to set in. March onward, the temperatures rise significantly, with Saurashtra, Kutch, North Gujarat and South Gujarat recording maximums exceeding 40 degrees.

The state also observes a wide variation in temperature pattern between first and second week of March. The beginning of March records maximums in mid or higher 30s, during the second week, mercury touches 40 degrees.

Due to frequent appearance of different weather systems, the temperatures in the state have not increased much during the month of March so far. In fact, minimums are still below normal by 2 to 4 degrees over most parts. Due to these temperatures, residents are experiencing comfortable weather conditions at present.

Rains remain a distant dream for Gujarat in the month of March. According to the latest data available with Skymet, it was way back in 2015 when the state experienced good rains in March, while the years 2017 and 2018 witnessed a completely dry weather.

According to Skymet Weather, a Western Disturbance will approach the northern hills around March 11. This system will induce a Cyclonic Circulation, however, both these systems will not give any weather activity in Gujarat in terms of rain. But they will certainly help in pulling down the temperatures.
