The state which was the most rain deficient during last Monsoon is witnessing good pre-Monsoon activity this year. Since past few days, Kerala has been witnessing on and off scattered rainfall. Even though the intensity of rainfall may not be as intense as one would hope for but, rainfall is a frequent visitor over few parts of the state.
At present, a trough is extending from Marathwada to interior Tamil Nadu and adjoining parts of Kerala. Therefore, we expect scattered rain activity to continue over Kerala for few more days. This trough will continue to persist for 3-4 days.
In the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Thiruvananthapuram witnessed scattered rainfall, whereas Punalur witnessed 49 mm of rainfall. Other areas of the state also witnessed scattered activity.
Though northern part of trough may oscillate between east to west but southern part will stay put and continue to affect Kerala. Weather of Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and interior Karnataka will remain dry, but on and off activity is expected over Kerala.
This rain activity will not affect the temperatures in a significant way. This rainfall activity will be of short duration. Also this rain activity is confined to late afternoon and evening or early morning. Hence, the weather is usually warm with pleasant night.
