Kerala has been witnessing very warm weather conditions since last many days. The day maximums are settling above normal by 2 to 4°C at many districts of the state.
Such dry weather conditions can be attributed to the absence of any significant weather system over the area. This is why no major weather activity has been observed.
But now, as per Skymet Weather, rain and thundershowers are likely in store for southern districts of Kerala. The reason for these rains can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation. This system has developed over Comorin area. Also, a trough is seen extending from this system up to Madhya Maharashtra via Tamil Nadu.
In wake of this system, both the states, Tamil Nadu including Chennai and Kerala will record some spells of rain. This will be a relief for the locals from the prevailing prolonged period of dry spell.
Moreover, maximum temperatures will fall by 1 or 2°C. However, this won’t last for long as the weather conditions will again take a turn. This means dry weather will become prevalent over the state by February 15 or 16.
This could be labelled as the first spell of rain in the month of February for this southern state.
