Kerala has been the only state which has been in deficit. The last heavy spell that the city recorded was on August 22, which brought the state in the normal category. After that, it has been raining on and off and deficiency has come down to 16 per cent.

The state of Kerala is all set to see heavy rains in the coming four days. There have been moderate rains during the last 24 hours. Rains will begin today, tomorrow will be heavier with the most amount of rains likely to be seen on August 31.

These rains are attributed to two features. A Cyclonic Circulation is over Kerala and adjoining interior parts of South Peninsula. A north south trough from Karnataka to Kerala along the coast. This feature will be shifting towards the Arabian Sea around September 1.
