Kerala to continue with occasional light rainfall activity

During the post Monsoon season, Kerala is the only state which has received normal rains. In fact, as to November 25, the state has received total 432 mm of rain against the normal of 435.3 mm. With this, Kerala was rain deficient by mere 1%.

At present, Northeast Monsoon is subdued over India. Therefore, weather activity would now reduce significantly for the next few days.

During the last 24 hours, isolated light rainfall activity occurred over few parts of Kerala. But its impact remained negligible as rain intensity was less than 10 mm of rain over most of the places.

Rains might return on the last day of the month and scattered rains are possible over the state between November 30 and December 2. However, the intensity of these rains will remain mostly light with one or two moderate spells.

In wake of this, we expect the rain deficiency to increase over Kerala. Moreover, models also indicate that the Northeast Monsoon will remain subdued over the coming 15 days.

Further, as no weather system is approaching Kerala or its nearby areas, the weather conditions over the entire state will remain mostly dry. Meanwhile, as Northeast Monsoon is still on, occasional light rain spells cannot be ruled out over parts of Kerala.
