Kerala rains to intensify soon

The month of March has remained pretty good for Kerala. In contrast with the other regions of the country wherein the temperatures are climbing high, Kerala has been witnessing on and off showers.

In fact, light to moderate rains occurred in South Kerala during the last 24 hours as well. In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Punalur witnessed 24.4 mm of rains, and Thiruvananthapuram recorded 13.7 mm of showers.

As per Skymet Weather, these rainy spells can be attributed to a trough which is seen extending from Vidarbha to Kerala across Telangana and interior Karnataka.

Moreover, this trough is likely to persist for another 48 hours as well. Hence, Kerala can brace for a few more showers to show up. The intensity and spread of rains are expected to increase within the next 24 hours.

Thereafter, weather across the state is expected to become almost dry though on and off isolated light rains will continue over south-coastal Kerala. However, as per their nature, pre-Monsoon showers generally occur during late afternoon or evening hours and till that time, the maximums have already peaked up. Hence, these rain activities are not expected to bring much changes in the rising temperatures.
