Monsoon made a timely arrival over Kerala and it brought good rains over the state. Most districts of the state were soaked with moderate to heavy rains. Due to these hefty showers, the temperatures that were scaling in lower 30’s are now settling in upper 20’s. However, now rains are likely to reduce in the next 24-48 hours.

In fact, in the last 24 hours, also light to moderate rains with a few heavy spells have lashed the state. Within a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Kannur recorded 66 mm of rains, Kozhikode 31 mm, Karipur 32 mm, and Kochi recorded 26 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, these rains are a result of the ongoing Southwest Monsoon surge which is active over almost the entire state. Moreover, an offshore trough also runs from the South Maharashtra to the Kerala coast.

As of now also these rains are likely to continue to the state but will pour over Kerala with a reduced intensity for the next 24 -48 hours. Rains will gradually pick up pace thereafter but will continue lashing the southern state and the aptly termed ‘God’s own country’.

Hence a drop in the rainfall activity is likely over the state from June 14-17 but will still continue to pour and the weather will seldom become completely dry.
