Good rains continued over the state of Kerala during the past 24 hours, with few districts even recording moderate to heavy rains. Kochi recorded 38 mm of rains in span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, followed by Kottayam at 15 mm. However, these rains remained confined to the southern pockets of the state.
With these persistent showers, the rain deficiency for the state has been improving with each passing day and now stands at a mere 5%.
Now as per Skymet Weather, the well-marked low-pressure area over Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Coastal Tamil Nadu will shift further west giving good rainfall over many parts of Tamil Nadu and thereafter over Kerala until November 24. With this, we can hope that the state may become marginally rain surplus by the end of this week.
Light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spells are expected over God’s own country. The intensity would be more tomorrow but extremely heavy rains having the potential to trigger flash floods are ruled out.
Weathermen predict that the well-marked low pressure area would gradually dissipate after entering Tamil Nadu. So, residents need not get startled with the enduring showers.
The state has already witnessed a good amount of rainfall this Northeast Monsoon as compared to the other southern states. In fact, Southwest Monsoon as well as Northeast Monsoon both turned to be good for the state in terms of rainfall.
