Kerala Rains: Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode to see more showers

Kerala Main (2)During the month of October, Kerala has been witnessing good rains with some bouts of heavy showers as well. Moreover, Cyclone Luban was one such system which had wreaked havoc over the state giving heavy showers over many parts.

At present, Kerala is rain excess by 22 percent as far as rains are concerned. In fact, only three meteorological divisions are rain excess as of now and the state of Kerala is one of them. Southwest Monsoon had also ended on a surplus note for Kerala.

In the last two to three days, good rains have been lashing the state resulting in moderate rains with one or two heavy spells. Moreover, the last 24 hours have also been rainy enough for the state with the capital city recording a whopping 44 mm of rainfall.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Kozhikode saw 38 mm of rains, Kottayam 19 mm, Karipur 14 mm, Punalur 9 mm with traces of rains in Kochi.

Presently, a Cyclonic Circulation is over South Tamil Nadu, and another is over Coastal Karnataka and adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea.

In view of these systems, moderate rains with one or two heavy spells of showers will continue over the state of Kerala in the next three days or so. Cities of Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Alappuzha, Punalur, Kottayam will continue to see good showers.

With this, both maximum and minimum temperatures will also remain on the lower side due to continuous rainfall over the state.

Thereafter, the intensity will reduce as these systems will become less marked. However, on and off rains may be seen in some areas.
