Since last many days, the entire West Coast has been receiving light to moderate rains along with few heavy spells. These heavy rains were ongoing over this region from July 14 to July 22. But now, these Monsoon rains are likely to subside along the entire West Coast.

Cities such as Harnai and Mahabaleshwar have also been receiving good Monsoon rainfall activities. On the other hand, Mumbai has been recording light rainfall activities since the last two days.

In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Harnai recorded 53 mm of rainfall, Madikeri 24 mm, Karwar 21.5 mm, Honavar 19.8 mm, Mangalore 19 mm, Vengurla 14 mm, Cannur 11 mm, Thane 8 mm, Goa 6 mm, Ratnagiri 5 mm and Alibag 3 mm.

These weather conditions can be attributed to an offshore trough which is seen weakening over the region. This is the reason for the subdued rainfall activities but light to moderate rains cannot be ruled out over the entire West Coast for the next three to four days. However, no chances of heavy spells will be in the offing as no significant weather system will be seen active along the West Coast.

Meanwhile, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala will continue to see on and off rainfall activities but North Kerala, in particular, is expected to receive light to moderate spells for the next 24 hours. As on July 24, the subdivision rainfall distribution statistics show that Kerala is rain deficient by 25% and Coastal Karnataka is still remaining rain deficient by 13% in spite of receiving moderate spells in the last many days. Only Konkan & Goa region is rain surplus by 16%.
