While the northern regions of the country are reeling under the dry and warm weather, the southern peninsula is still relishing Monsoon showers. In fact, the month of September has churned out to be a constructive one in terms of Monsoon rains.
In the last 24 hours also, both Kerala and Karnataka were blessed by good Monsoon showers. Though the intensity of rains was more in the interior regions of both the states in contrast with the districts lying on the coastal belt.
Within the span of the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Districts of Kerala such asAlappuzharecorded 18 mm of rains, Palayamkottai 11 mm,Punalur10 mm, andKochiobserved 10 mm of rainy spells.

During the similar time frame, districts of Karnataka such asBengalururecorded good rains of 68.4 mm of rains, Chitradurgarecorded 62 mm of rains, Hassan 39 mm,Belgaum22.2 mm, Dharwad 18 mm, and Mandya witnessed 17 mm of spells.
As per Skymet Weather, a trough is extending from Madhya Maharashtra to South Tamil Nadu across Karnataka. Moreover, an embedded cyclonic circulation is also seen over Karnataka. In the wake of this, good rains are likely to continue over both Kerala and Karnataka. A few heavy spells cannot be ruled out as well.

Thus, the districts of North Kerala and South Karnataka will get to witness moderate to heavy rains. While South Kerala and North Karnataka may record some light to moderate spells.
The capital of Karnataka, Bengaluru will also get to see some good showers. Thereafter, this system will shift towards the coast thus increasing the rainfall activity over the coastal areas.
