Katra, Batote, Dharamsala received three-digit rainfall - More heavy showers likely over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh

During the past 24 hours, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh have received heavy to very heavy rainfall. Earlier a weather alert was sounded by the Skymet Weather. This is possibly season's heaviest rainfall in the recent times. The chief amount of rainfall recorded are:  Katra 152mm, Batote 133mm, Banihal 86mm, Bhaderwah 70mm, Jammu 66mm, Dharamsala 153mm, Chamba 74mm, and Manali 42mm.

An active western disturbance is moving across Jammu & Kashmir and neighborhood. Now the weather intensity will reduce and light to moderate showers are expected till late evening and cease thereafter. The next two days, that is, 29th and 30th March can expect the least weather activity over the region. However, a fresh western disturbance will arrive on the 30th of March. This will cause fairly widespread rain and snow for the subsequent 72 hours, from 31st March till 02 April.

Heavy rainfall is expected at many places over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh during this period. Very intense activity with thunderstorms and lightning can be expected on the 31st March.  The weather system will move away on 3rd April and good weather conditions will follow for the next few days.
