Vigorous Monsoon conditions have been giving heavy rains have been lashing Jammu and Kashmir for the last many days. In wake of this, several water bodies had witnessed a significant rise, triggering flood like situation.

Reportedly, River Jhelum has been flowing above the danger level since last 24 hours. Southern parts of Kashmir are the worst affected region. Inclement weather conditions have led to panic across the region as the conditions have brought back the horror of Kashmir Floods 2014.

However, Skymet Weather predicts some relief in the coming hours. Although rains have been continuing for the last 3-4 days but Saturday saw rains with reduced intensity. According to latest survey, rising water levels have also shown a declining trend.

Thus, threat of any floods has reduced but people must be vigilant, particularly those living in low lying areas.

As per weathermen, Jammu and Kashmir including Srinagar is most likely to witness light rains during the next 24 hours. The ongoing rains can be attributed to the passage of an active Western Disturbance along with the presence of active Monsoon surge.

The Western Disturbance has now moved away from the region but remnants of the system would continue to give light rains over the region.
