For the last few days, the hilly region of North India has been witnessing on and off rain and snowfall. However, any significant had been missing.
Now, a fresh spell of rain and snow is approaching Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. According to Skymet Weather, a fresh Western Disturbance is affecting Jammu and Kashmir and is active in nature. With this, a prolonged spell of rain and snow is likely over all the three states.
By the evening of January 14, weather activity will start making an appearance but the intensity of the weather activity would be scattered and light initially.

Thereafter by January 15, both intensity and spread will increase significantly and we can expect widespread rain and snow over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Few places can also record heavy to very heavy snowfall.
Famous tourist destinations of Shimla, Manali, Srinagar, and Nainital will also see good amount of rain and snow.
This spell is likely to continue for at least three days. In wake of this, minimum temperatures across the region will increase, while day maximums will take a dip.
Cold day conditions may grip some of the hilly states as mercury may settle on the lower side.
