Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand relish good Monsoon rains

The normal date for the onset of Monsoon in Jammu and Kashmir is July 1. However, Monsoon has made an early arrival in Jammu and Kashmir, by June 21. Monsoon has also arrived in most parts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

Good rains are expected over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for next 24 hours. Thereafter, Monsoon will remain subdued over hills of western Himalayas for another 2 to 3 days.

A fresh surge is expected to develop around June 26 that will induce fairly widespread showers. These rainy spells will bring rain over entire Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Few heavy to very heavy rains are also expected during that time.

Here’s a look at the light to moderate rains that were recorded in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Tuesday:

Rain activities are also likely to intensify over plains of North India by June 26. These rains are likely to continue till month end. It can be concluded that by June 29 Monsoon is expected to reach Delhi and NCR, Haryana, Punjab and entire Uttar Pradesh.
