Kashmir floods: Indian Army comes to rescue

Kashmir Valley has been reeling under severe weather condition since yesterday. Floods have wreaked havoc over the so aptly termed, ‘Heaven on Earth’ on account of incessant rains that have been occurring over Jammu and Kashmir from last two to three days.

Not only this, Srinagar has also seen snowfall in the month of April which is a very rare occurrence at this time of the year. The flash flooding was due to the River Jhelum in the valley crossing the danger level mark. In addition, several other water bodies including the streams, rivers as well as lakes were also swollen.

In view of the inclement weather condition, schools and colleges across Srinagar and other areas of Kashmir are also shut. Though the relief and rescue operations are on its peak to transfer the affected residents to a safer place but as per Skymet Weather, the situation is likely to remain conducive to the weather condition for at least another 24 hours.
