Coastal Karnataka and Konkan & Goa are among the rainiest places in the country. These places along the West Coast contribute largely to the overall pan India rainfall amounts.

Karwar is one such place in Coastal Karnataka which receives very heavy showers in the month of July. The city on an average receives about 978.7 mm of rainfall.

During the Monsoon season, Karwar receives rainfall almost every day. The off shore trough becomes a semi-permanent feature along the West Coast. Depending on its strength we receive light to heavy showers. At times, the city receives very heavy showers as well.

In a span of 24 hours, from 8.30 am on Sunday, Karwar has received 106.8 mm of rainfall. As of now, Karwar has recorded 796.7 mm of rainfall in July. Therefore, the city still has to receive about 200 mm of rainfall to cover up for the monthly mean target.

Conditions are favorable for more rains during next 48 hours. Intense showers are possible as the Monsoon surge will enhance along Coastal Karnataka. With six more days to go, Skymet Weather expects Karwar to surpass the monthly average.
