In the last 24 hours North Karnataka has received fairly widespread light to moderate rain with few heavy spells. The low pressure system is at present seen over North Andhra Pradesh coast and adjoining Telangana. And an associated cyclonic circulation is extending up to mid-tropospheric level. The system is tilting southwestwards with height.
In the North Karnataka, especially Bidar, Gulbarga, Bijapur areas are expected to receive continuous light to moderate rain with heavy spells in between. Mainly overcast sky will prevail over the area with moderate gusty winds. These weather factors will allow the lowering of temperature by few notches.
Due to the slow movement of the low pressure system, the rainfall over the region is expected to continue for next 24-48 hours. But in comparison South Karnataka will receive less rains, generally light to moderate rains may be seen over south districts as well as coastal areas.
Bangalore is expected to receive good rains later today. These rains will be of less in intensity when compared to rainfall over North Karnataka. Generally light to moderate rain is expected. These rains are expected to continue over the city for next 24 hours.
In the last 24 hours, rainfall over various districts of North Karnataka are: Santhapur 110 mm, Gulbarga 80 mm, Aland 75, Sedam 46 mm, Bidar 55 mm, Dabaka 66 mm and Yadgir (Hayyal) 43 mm.
