For the last few days, Uttar Pradesh has been receiving continuous rains of varied intensity. The western and central parts of Uttar Pradesh have received light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells during last 24 hours. Scattered rains also occurred over East Uttar Pradesh.
In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Monday, Kanpur witnessed heavy rains of 87.6 mm, Banda 37.8 mm, Shahjahanpur 26.2 mm, Fursatganj 28 mm, Hardoi 26.2 mm and Bahraich 22.6 mm of rain. Cities like Agra, Allahabad, Aligarh, Jhansi, and Sultanpur also received light rains.

As per Skymet Weather, the cyclonic circulation which is over North Chhattisgarh will move in the northwest direction towards Central Madhya Pradesh. Therefore, good rains will continue over many parts of Uttar Pradesh.
Places like Kanpur, Hardoi, Lucknow, Bahraich, and Fursatganj, Bareilly may receive moderate rains. One or two places may also receive heavy spells. Rains over Varanasi, Allahabad, and Gorakhpur will be light in intensity.

At present, the axis of Monsoon trough which is now passing through Uttar Pradesh, will persist over the same area and oscillate towards North, therefore, moderate rains with one or two heavy spells will continue over many parts of Uttar Pradesh for at least three to four days.
As on August 7, East Uttar Pradesh is deficient by 12 percent and West Uttar Pradesh by 27 percent. It is anticipated that the rain deficiency is likely to come down by the weekend due to the hefty rains.
It is anticipated that with these heavy rains, floods may also make a comeback which may hamper the agriculture sector.
