Kandla Scores First 45 Degree Of The Season, Blazing Heat For Gujarat, Rajasthan

Kandla, one of India’s major ports, located on the Gulf of Kutch is the 1st town to breach 45°C mark, this pre monsoon season.  This mercury level is 10°C above the average and amounts to extreme heat wave conditions.  The day temperature has been soaring for the last 3 days scaling 41.8°C, 43.4°C and 45°C respectively.  This is the highest temperature so far over the Indian region during current pre monsoon season.

The temperatures have been mounting steeply over Kutch, North Gujarat and West Rajasthan for the last few days. The complete region is under attack of severe heat wave with mercury climbing to 42°C and more. Western parts of Rajasthan are also under siege of extreme heat with temperatures in excess of 44°C. Barmer, Phalodi and Jaisalmer recorded high of 44.9°C, 44.8°C and 44.7°C respectively. Bikaner and Ganganagar also touched 44°C yesterday.

Weather conditions have been totally dry over Rajasthan and Gujarat during this season so far.  Across the border, scorching heat is sweeping parts of Pakistan with temperature in excess of 46°C. Few of the prominent places scaling 45°C and above are :  Nawabshah-46.4°C, Pad Idan-46°C, Chhor-45.4°C and Jacobabad, Khanpur, Sibi- 45°C. Hot winds are blowing across the border sweeping parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat. Severe heat from the parched areas of Pakistan is getting advected over the border states. Heat wave conditions, becoming severe in few pockets are likely to extend well even to the next week, without any major relief.
