In the past 24 hours, Coastal Andhra Pradesh received moderate rains with one or two heavy spells. Places like Rentachintala, Bapatla, Ongole, Kakinada, Narsapur, Machilipatnam, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam recorded 66 mm, 85 mm, 15 mm, 37 mm, 12 mm, 6 mm and 2 mm of rain, respectively. While, Tuni, Tirupati, Anantapur witnessed light rains.
According to meteorologists at Skymet, the intensity of rains will no decrease in Rayalaseema, but isolated heavy spells cannot be ruled out. Coastal stations of North Andhra Pradesh would continue to witness light to moderate rains. These weather activities are in the wake of southerly humid winds from the Bay of Bengal.
Thereafter, the intensity of rain would decrease. Another spell of moderate to heavy rains will commence around June 30 and it might continue till July 2. These rains will also be attributed to the Low-Pressure Area which is likely to develop over the east-central Bay of Bengal and it would move towards the Andhra coast. During this period also, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh will be witnessing good rains. The rainfall activities will remain subdued over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema. the intensity of rain is likely to increase in the first week of July while June will probably end with a deficit note.
