By June 19, Monsoon did cover almost all of Odisha and Chhattisgarh. But even with the arrival of Monsoon, active monsoon rainfall activities are yet to be witnessed over region. During last 24 hours, scattered moderate rainfall activity has been observed in many areas over Chhattisgarh and some parts interior Odisha.
We expect that rain to increase over Chhattisgarh and Odisha in next 2-3 days. However coastal areas of Odisha will continue to witness subdued rainfall activity.
A cyclonic circulation is seen over South Andhra Pradesh and North Tamil Nadu coast is expected to move in Northwest direction affecting South Chhattisgarh and parts of South Odisha in terms of good rainfall. However, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to occur only at one or two places but fairly widespread heavy rainfall activity is ruled out as of now.
Rainfall is deficient over Odisha as well as Chhattisgarh. As of June 23 Chhattisgarh is 34% rain deficient and Odisha is 37% rain deficient.
By seeing the prediction for the next few weeks we do not expect that rain statistics will change and June is expected to end with a deficient rain over both these states.
During last 24 hours heavy fall has been recorded but still the normal for this time of the year is pretty high that is why despite the good showers recently rain has definitely not come down.
Even the coastal areas are almost dry and we do not expect the rainfall to get vigorous in any form. Check out the rainfall figures for various places in Chhattisgarh and Odisha:
