The month of July and August are core Monsoon months for almost all parts of the country. In fact, the month of July is the rainiest month of the Monsoon season across India.
The daily average rainfall Pan India is around 9-10 mm during the month of July. Rainfall activity is higher during the second half of the month as compared to the first.
During the first 10 days of July, Monsoon rains have remained deficient across the country wherein only 6 to 8 mm of rainfall was observed across the country each day.
However, July 11 onward, rains have increased, and the country has been recording rains in two digits on a daily basis.

The last two days have been the rainiest where 13 mm of rain was recorded on July 16 against the average of 9.6 mm. On July 17, rainfall was even higher and was recorded at 14.2 mm against the average of 9. 9 mm across India.
Therefore, the deficiency which was at - 9% until July 10 has reduced to -3% as on July 18 and is expected to improve even further as heavy rains are expected to continue for the next two days.
Thus, it seems that the cumulative rainfall will remain near normal by the end of July.
