Jodhpur, Barmer and Churu to be nearly dry despite the onset of Monsoon 2019

The eastern and the southeastern parts of Rajasthan have been witnessing good rain and thundershowers since the beginning of July. However, the weather in the western part is almost dry and hot. Hence, at present East Rajasthan is surplus by 58% while West Rajasthan is rain deficit by 25%. Many parts of Rajasthan are still experiencing temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius and beyond. Whereas, Churu, Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Barmer, Nagaur, and Pali are almost dry.

Now, the Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) passes through Barmer, Jodhpur, Churu, Ludhiana, and Kapurthala.

Our experts have to say that the rainfall activities over East Rajasthan will eventually fade away and after 24 hours, the weather of Rajasthan will become dry. The northward shift of the Trough which was earlier persisting over the Northern Plains will be the reason behind rains clearing off from the region.

Moreover, a Cyclonic Circulation which was seen over Northeast Rajasthan and adjoining South Haryana at mid-levels will also weaken. Thus, dry weather lies ahead of the state till July 14.

Post this, due to the southward shift of the Trough, light rain activities might commence over Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu, Bikaner, and Jhunjhunun for two to three days. However, heavy rains are strictly ruled out and there will be only patchy and short spells.
